Brilux Table Lighter

c. 1950 Made in Switzerland and distributed in USA by Dunhill. Beautifully made lighter with unique flint spring mechanism where the spring is contained in a shaft with a plunger at the end to push the flint - so the spring never gets jammed or damaged.

Manufactured in Occupied Japan early after World War 2. Almost identical to the Reliance lighter. The 2nd view shows an ordinary Evans lighter next to this one as a size comparison. Late 1940s. Large lighter at 4" tall (closed).

Interestingly, this lighter lists a patent for the method of casting used to make parts of it (US1290011) as well as the original "Banjo" patent for the mechanism. One of the additional images shows how much larger this lighter is compared with a De-Light Standard. First manufactured 1929.

This huge lighter may be the largest and heaviest of the jumbo lighters - standing 7" tall, 3 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" thick and weighing in at well over 2 pounds!
