Fashion Academy Gold Medal AwardFuel & Flint Servicing Change - 1954

Beginning with some 1954 models a change was made to the apparatus for fueling and replacing flint. This featured the bottom that pulls away from the body for filling. A tiny "O-ring" sort of gasket goes around the inside of the base to provide the seal when it is closed so the fluid won't leak. The screw in the center allows access to replace the flint.

To the right is a 1956 ad promoting this feature as it had been adopted on more models by then - CLICK HERE for enlarged view of ad
