Smackover and Camden Arkansas: Refurbishing the old town centers seems to be quire the thing in this general area. Smackover, AR has the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources which provides a fascinating, in depth look at oil and the early days of the industry in this part of Arkansas. Nearby Camden has many murals adorning the walls of buildings in the historic district.

This museum is quite out of the ordinary. It provides a fascinating, in depth look at oil and the early days of the industry in this part of Arkansas. It uses the oil discovery and boom beginning in the 1920s in Arkansas to inform about oil itself as well as the early methods of obtaining it from the ground along with the way people of the time and place lived with it. Much of the exhibit area is life sized and "walk through".
