Day of rest...

I haven't really done all that much, but I am definitely not ready for a SERIOUS vacation. Today I just needed to relax and rest. I did take a taxi to the Amador Causeway for a little something to do. Basically, this seems to be a marina area and retail tourist stuff as well as some restaurants and a couple of accommodations. Got nice pictures by the PANAMA sign, though!

I want to go to Morocco & Spain and visit "Rick's Cafe" in Casablanca; hopefully it won't be too long until I feel I'm ready.

I can't be certain, but I believe it is a felony here to have a car without a horn and a severe misdemeanor to not use the horn enough :-)

I have been really surprised how well my old (that's VERY old) high school Spanish has served me. It isn't good, but does enable conversations with those who are patient and speak somewhat slowly. The more I speak it, the more it seems to refresh itself in my mind.

There are MANY security guards most places here. Also a lot of police and military presence - at least in tourist oriented areas. Other areas may not be so good. One neighborhood one of the cab drivers went through caused him to lock the doors... That may be what is needed in New Orleans - various businesses and hotels get their own security guards and having cops in pairs on various corners just watching and making their presence known. When one sees cops or military, they are always in pairs here.
