New Delhi, India...

Wow! It was a long trip here. From leaving home to getting into my room was about 30 hours. Quite a bit of layover time, but the flight from JFK in NYC to Delhi was just shy of 15 hours. Thank goodness for compression sox; I've used them my last couple of trips and they are a vast difference in comfort.

I arrived late on the 22nd and after checking into the hotel, was on the street in front having a cigarette and got an unexpected treat as a wedding party paraded past. There are a couple of pictures and a video below.

I spent today just recovering from my trip and getting things in place for the days ahead - such as getting train tickets for Agra, India. Also just explored the neighborhood a bit. This is quite a nice hotel in the middle of old Delhi and the street life goes on until late at night. I have a street facing room and, happily, it is completely soundproofed - so none of the constant sounds of traffic and horns.

The wedding party marches and parties down the side of the street, amidst all the traffic, stopping occasionally to party ad dance in place a bit then moves along a bit.

They didn't have a room with king bed 1st night, so I got 2 twins... a bit small. The room was the same otherwise, though as the room with the king bed I got the next day.

The bath is nice and, of course, complete with bidet. Everyplace overseas seems to have these now. My 2 newly remodeled bathrooms do, also!

Beautiful Lobby

The rooftop area is for relaxing and smoking permitted here. Also available to have meals and/or drinks brought up. India seems to have very restrictive smoking laws and it is rare to see anyone smoking.
