Akro Agate Co.

The Akro Agate Co. incorporated in Clarksburg, WV in 1914 and for the next 40 years manufactured the nation's most famous glass marbles. Through their marble production a distinctive glass was developed and by 1932 the company was molding its characteristic colors into flowerpots, ashtrays, dishes, and novelties.

The Akro styles were developed in the Depression years but carried on past the 1930s and into the 1940s.
